The Sunday Scoop & TPT Holiday Ebook!

It has been such a busy month, and every time I tell myself I need to stop and blog, something always comes up!  So glad everyone is all fed and happily watching football in our household right now, because I am finally allotted some free time to catch up here and link up with the Teaching Trio!  :)

3- With Polar Express Day, Christmas Around the World, and the Holiday Party, it will sure be a fun-filled week! Besides reading and watching the Polar Express with my sweet students, I'm super excited to get to wear my pjs to school!  Who doesn't love that, right?!  Last year, I picked up my sweet baby boy from daycare wearing my pjs from Polar Express Day at my school and his teacher thought I had took a day off and came to pick him up in my pjs! It was pretty hilarious, and we both laughed about it.

Ahh... and of course the Christmas presents!  Why have I not wrapped my son's Christmas presents?! Ahhh!!! So I saw this video on Youtube about how I have all wrapped Christmas presents the wrong way all these years, and the right way is from the corner of the wrapping paper!  Have you seen this?!  It's looks super easy and super efficient!  Another example of Youtube helping me with the little problems in my life! :)

Speaking of presents....We shopped for our little Angel the other week and have delivered the gifts for wrapping and delivery.  So glad I got a chance to make Christmas a little brighter for another lil' one in our community.  Hope he likes his new clothes and learning toys on Christmas Day!

2- Since my husband and I always do a family holiday trip, we have decided that the trip itself would be presents for each other.  This definitely makes gift-giving easy for me, but it still doesn't stop me from brainstorming of other gifts I want to buy for me... I mean him.. :)  So I've been wanting to get matching family pjs for Christmas for the longest time.  I think I will do that this week along with baking some warm cookies with my lil' man.

1- So glad Christmas Break is in the horizon!  No schedules or alarms for two whole weeks!  Woohoo!!!! But as much as I would love to sleep until noon, my sweet son will definitely be up everyday at 7 as he always does.  Oh well, at least I can take afternoon naps with him for two whole weeks! :)

Speaking of the holidays... I'm so happy to share with you the TPT Holdiay E-book that I am part of this year!  If you are looking for some great Holiday ideas and FREEBIES, come check it out!  I can't tell you how honor I feel to be featured along with so many great contributors and TPT stores out there!

Love that the idea that I shared in the ebook was also my son's holiday party craft at daycare!  While more parental guidance was required for him and his sweet classmates than my first graders, I'm so glad he had a great time making his own gingerbread house!

Well, that's about all for now.  Hope you're having a great time celebrating the holidays with all the fun festivities going around! :)

It's Christmas Season!

Christmas Season is in full-swing, and it really is the BEST time of the year!  One of my favorite parts of teaching is definitely using relevant and seasonal themes to make learning more meaningful for my students while also covering the necessary learning targets and standards.

As a first grade teacher, I love for my students to write letters to Santa to not only tell him of their wishlist but also persuade him to have them as his elves.  They always get such a kick out of it, and are encouraged to compose simple sentences with correct spacing, punctuation, and capitalization, while also cover the parts of a letter and be introduced  to writing to persuade.

I'm also excited for my students to learn about the different traditions that surround Christmas and how different cultures and people around the world celebrate the holidays.  Below is a great resource that covers the many Christmas traditions in the US complete with colorful signs and a students booklet.  The best part of this packet is that it encourages students to make connections to self and share their family traditions with their friends at the end of each writing prompt.

If you are also looking for a fun way for your students to continue their learning during the Winter Break, make sure you check out the Winter Break packet below!  It includes 24 Math, English, Social Studies, and Science activities!

I have also invited my TPT and Blogging Friends to link up their Christmas/Holiday Resources to share with you!  Please click to the links below to check them out!

My December Currently & A Freebie!

December is here, and so are all the wonderful Christmas festivities, decorations, and yes...music! Nothing warms my heart like hearing Christmas music by our Christmas tree, but of course, football is also going on and with my hubby around, that's what I'm currently listening to.... WHICH....brings me to... my December Currently!

LOVING-I love, love, love Christmas!  As wonderful as all the decorations and festivities that come along with Christmas, I love the memories that I have had with my friends and family the most!

25 years ago, my family moved from Vietnam to the U.S.  It was that very first year that my family and I were blessed to have celebrated Christmas for the first time in America complete with snow and all!  For a kid who had never seen snow before, it was a really BIG deal!  Even a bigger deal was that a wonderful family had adopted our family from an angel tree and delivered boxes and boxes of gifts to our family of eight in our little, cramp apartment on Christmas day! It was the most magical moment for our family that year, and I will never forget the joy that day and generosity of that wonderful family.

THINKING- In the spirit of giving, my husband and I are thinking and planning to adopt an angel this year.  I hope we can get it all done this weekend and help create some good memories of giving for our son.

WANTING & NEEDING- As much as I love my boots and leggings, I don't like this 30 and 40 degree weather days so much.  I'm so glad the 60's in the forecast again.  Yay for warmer weather, for sure!

GIVING- As for giving, here's my Holiday Noun Sorting Freebie!  It's a great way to review nouns using Christmas-themed picture cards!  Just click to the cover to download!
